Management Training for IT

Developing the skills to advance your career past the technical

Technologists are promoted into management based on their success at technical projects, then expected to succeed at a whole different set of skills for which they have had no training.

Management training is as critical for managerial success as technical training is for engineers.  Managing people requires learning new skills, no different than working with a new operating system.  While training is considered essential for engineers, virtually no management training is offered to IT managers, making the transitions at each level of advancement difficult.

If you are dissatisfied with your career maybe it is time to consider a career coach to help develop a winning plan.

  Why Not Formal Classes?

You can't learn to drive a car by reading a book.

Classes and books may be a cost effective way of communicating technical information, but structured classes are ineffective for developing 'people' skills.

Unlike computers, people are all different. Classes lack the direct relationship needed to identify an individual's goals, skills and blocks to becoming a successful manager.
